His enclosure is devoid of adequat enrichment, such as logs, trees or complex vegetation that would allow him to engage in natural tiger behaviors. As a result of the stress of his confinement Tony constantly paces on the hard concrete surface of his enclosure, putting him at risk for dangerous and painful veterinary conditions.Michael Sandlin , the owner of Tony and the truck stop , has been cited by the USDA due to violations of the Animal Welfare Act, including a lack of proper sanitation and improper feeding practices. Tony est un exemple du problème grave des tigres privés aux USA qui dépasse le nombre des tigres à l'état sauvage.
Le propriétaire Mr Michaël Sandlin exposait jusqu'à 4 tigres et en 2003 en raison des violations et des amendes Mr Michaël Sandlin et l'USDA ont conclu un accord où 3 des 4 tigres qu'il possédait: TOBY, KHAN et RAINBOW, seraient envoyés à TIGER HAVENà Kingston. L'UDSA a réduit les amendes et a permi à Mr Sandlin de garder un tigre: TONY.
Le BIG CAT RESCUE a offert à Mr Sandlin de prendre Tony et de lui fournir un foyer permanent sans aucun frais, mais celui ci a refusé et a même déposé une requête avec ordonnance d'interdiction temporaire pour les empêcher de saisir Tony. Le juge J.Robin Free a signé l'ordonnance.
Aujourd'hui , Tony vit dans des conditions abominables parmis les touristes et les gaz d'échappement des camions dans une cage des plus exécrable.
Il est grand temps de nous unir afin de pouvoir sauver ce bel animal et lui offrir pour le temps qui lui restera à vivre , un environnement tel qu'il aurait le droit d'avoir, lui permettant enfin d'être libre.
Pour cela il faut non seulement signer toutes les pétitions possibles mais aussi rejoindre tous les groupes et associations se battant pour lui.
