Puis un 6 mai , ils furent vendus aux enchères, et l'horreur arriva...
Le 17 mai la femelle rhino blanche fut tuée dans le parc municipal dans les circonstances suivantes:
Elle a été approchée à pied par le chasseur, son fils, le président de l'association de chasse locale, et un des membres de la municipalité.
Il n'y avait ni vétérinaire, ni représentant du département Cap Nord de Conservation de la Nature.
Il y a litige quant au nombre de balles l'ayant tuée.
Elle a été chassée toute la journée, mais les chasseurs ne veulent reconnaitre que l'avoir frappée de 3 balles.
Voici ce qui c'est vraiment passé:
Parce qu'elle était à moitié apprivoisée, elle était facilement atteignable, et la première balle l'ayant touchée fut tirée aux environs de 9h du matin.
Elle fut suivie et tirée au moins une fois de plus .
Plus tard dans l'après midi, les chasseurs ont fait appel à un hélicoptère, car elle s'était réfugiée dans un buisson.
L'hélicoptère a directement dirigé le pick-up sur la femelle rhino, qui avait été apperçue , perdant du sang au niveau des épaules et de son arrière-train.
Il y avait à peu près 6 à 8 personnes dans le pick-up, dont l'homme de la municipalité, et David Erwee, qui se tenait debout à l'arrière du véhicule ,équipé d'une carabine Winchester 458 avec viseur téléscopique , complètement équipée.
Au lieu de finir proprement comme il aurait pu le faire, il a choisi d'éviter un coup fatal à la tête qui aurait pu abimer le trophée.
Il a délibérément tiré une lourde balle dans son corps , ce qui est commun avec les chasseurs de trophée.
Elle partie dans une panique aveugle s'écraser à travers les buissons renversant de petits arbres.
Quant elle avait un moment d'arrêt, le processus recommença, l'hélicoptère, les dirigea et une nouvelle balle lui traversa le corps.
Ce processus cruel fut répété entre 10 et 12 fois pendant une période d'une demi-heure.
En termes clairs, elle a été blessée plus d'une douzaine de fois afin de préserver les parties trophées de son corps.
Ils présument que le chasseur voulait viser le coeur, mais il se gardait bien de le manquer.
Finalement elle tomba sur ses genoux , et le pick-up fut à même de rouler jusqu'à elle.
Mais là encore, personne ne mit une balle dans sa tête pour l'achever, elle fut juste autorisée à aganiser lentement dans cette position, se noyant dans son propre sang.
NOUS AIMERIONS ATTIRER L'ATTENTION SUR LES FAITS SUIVANTS:
Cette chasse a eu lieu dans une réserve municipale à portée de la ville et osus les auspices du département du Cap Nord de Conservation de la Nature .
La chasse d'une rhinocéros semi apprivoisée, dans un park fermé dans lequel elle n'a aucune échappatoire, est notre vue de la Rhino Canned Hunting.
Après plus de deux ans de retard, le procureur Kimberley a avisé le conseil national de la SPCA qu'il n'était pas disposé à poursuivre le chasseur, car
Tous les membres de la partie de chasse jurent que l'animal n'a été abattu que de 4 balles.
Que l'animal n'a pas été exposé à des souffrances inutiles.
Il n'y a aucune preuve contredisant leur version.
Il n'est pas exact de dire qu'il n'y a pas de preuves pour contredire cette partie de chasse.
Le pilote de l'hélicoptère qui a vu le rhinocéros blessé encore et encore , au moins dix fois a été commodément ignoré.
Il a été prouvé aussi par la durée du vol: 42 minutes, preuves sur documents , qu'il n'y a pas eu de mort facile et rapide pour cette femelle rhino blanche.

For the last 15 years a pair of white rhino have been a tourist attraction at Kuruman Municipal Game Park in South Africa.
On the 6th of May they were sold on auction. The bull was darted and removed.
On 17 May a rhino cow was shot inside the Municipal Game Park in the following circonstances.
Dhe was approached on foot by the hunter, his son, the chariman of the local hunting association and a member of the Municipal staff.
There was no vet or representative of Nothern Cape Department of Nature Conservation.
The precise number of bullets which struck here are in dispute. She was hunted all day but the hunters say that she was only hit by 3 bullets.
In fact what really happened.
Because she was semi-tame she was easily stalked and the first bullet was fired into her at about nine a.m.
Thereafter she was tracked and shot again at least one more time.
Late in the afternoon, the hunters called in a helicopter because she was hiding in some thick bush.
The helicopter located her and directed the pick-up to her position. At this time she was seen to be bleeding both from her shoulder and from her hindquarters.
There were several people 6-8 in and on the pick-up.
The man who had purchased her from the Municipality, one David Erwee, standing on the opend back of the vehicle, took aim from fifty to sixty metres away with his 458 Winchester rifle-complete with telescopic sight .
Instead of finishing her off as he could easily have done, he chose to avoid a fatal shot to the head which would have spoilt his trophy.
He deliberately fired the heavy bullet into her body (this is common with trophy hunters)
She set off in a blind panic, crashing through bushes and knocking over small trees. When she came to a stop, the process was repeated.
The helicopter talked the vehicle to where she had sought refuge, and another heavy bullet was carrefully fired into her body.
Again she set off. This process was to be repeated at least 10 or 12 times over a half hour or so .
In plain words, she was purposely wounded more than a dozen times to preserve the trophy parts of her body.
Presumably, the hunter was aiming at the heart but he kept missing it. Eventually she fell forward on to her knees and the pick-up was able to drive right up to her .
Even then no one put a bullet into her head. She was allowed to die in this position, slowly drowning in her own blood.
We would like to draw attention to the following salient facts.
Her ordeal took place within a Municipal reserve within ear shot of the town and under the auspices of the Northern Cape Department of Nature Conservation.
The shooting of a semi-tame rhino who is used to tourists and who is in an enclosed game park from which there is no escape amounts in our view to canned rhino hunting.
After more than two years of delay the Kimberly Porsecutor has advised the national Council of the SPCA that he is not prepared to prosecute the hunter because:
all the members of the hunting party swear that the animal was only shot four times.
that the animal was not exposed to "unnecessary suffering" and
there is no evidence to gainsay their version.
It is not correct to say that there is no evidence to contradict that of the hunting party. The independent evidence of the eye-witness, the helicopter pilot, who saw the rhino being deliberately wounded again and again at least 10 times, has conveniently been ignored.
The pilot was supported by the documentary evidence, namely, the bill for the use of the helicopter, which shows that the flight lasted 42 minutes.
This lengthy flight corroborates the pilot's story of multiple wounding, and contradict the version of the hunting party that there was a quick and easy death.
